News from the preparation of IDET 2019

At this year's IDET / PYROS / ISET security fairs, a comprehensive showcase of sectoral offer from the Czech Republic as well as abroad is expected at the Brno Exhibition Centre. The trio of traditional international trade fairs are IDET (defence and security technology), PYROS (fire equipment and services) and ISET (police, crime investigation and security technology and services, commercial security). Czech government is planning to invest billions into security enhancement, while expansion and modernisation of equipment is planned by the army, police, fire brigade and customs service. A similar situation is also in other countries, which is good news for the export-oriented Czech defence and security industry.

Hall P and adjacent outdoor areas will be dedicated to the IDET trade fair and all the exhibition area will be completely occupied by exhibitors. The largest exhibitor is, of course, the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic and the Czech Army, which will present their technology and equipment. There will also be a display of the Ministry of Defence of Slovakia. The Czechoslovak Group will present itself on more than 1,000 meters of exhibition space, and other traditional Czech companies are also heading for IDET – such as Česká zbrojovka, EVPÚ Defense, Glomex, Praga – Export, Omnipol, VOP CZ and Zetor Engineering, which will show its tactical armored vehicle 4 x 4 GERLACH.

The partner country of this year’s season is Sweden, hence besides, the traditional exhibitor BAE Systems, talks are going on about the participation of other new Swedish exhibitors. The coordinator is the Swedish Defence and Security Industry Association. As regards foreign companies, let us mention, for example, the German companies Rheinmetall or Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, the Belgian company CMI DEFENCE or French NEXTER Systems. From Spain is coming the company General Dynamics European Land Systems, which plans to present two heavy-duty belt-drive vehicles and one wheeled vehicle.

There will also be new exhibitors such as ELEDUS, which will present a new compact X-ray SCIOX appliance for security applications such as checking mail, backpacks, bags, handbags, etc. It will also find large application in detailed inspection, such as searching for covert listening devices in various objects.

Part of the fair is, of course, a professional sideline programme, where defence and security technology professionals discuss topical issues. There will also be the traditional CATE conference (Community-Army-Technology-Environment) organised by the Brno University of Defence. We will inform you about additional events in other e-letters. An off-road polygon for dynamic demonstrations of military, fire and police equipment in action will once again be in operation during the fair.
